David J Smith
David’s early career was in publishing at IPC Magazines working on magazines such as NME, Shoot, 90 Minutes, Golf Monthly and Rugby World becoming Sports Group Publisher in 1995. He then ‘transferred’ to the Football Association as Commercial Manager in 1997 where he developed the FA’s licensing and merchandising programme, overseeing various England kit launches and the launch of the World Cup ’98 and Euro 2000 merchandising partnership with Sainsbury’s
Whilst at The FA, David was part of the development team for The FA’s web site and launched the FA’s online store England-Direct. David left The FA after the Euro 2000 tournament to work on the development and launch of various football/sport related online stores including those of Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, UEFA, and The ECB. In May 2005 David joined Sports World working on the development of their online store proposition sports-direct .com which was launched in December 2005.
David joined IMRG as Director Of Operations in June 2007
